KAIROS

2018

The Ancient Greeks had two words for time.

'Chronos' refers to chronological or sequential time - measurable and predictable. Kairos signifies the right time - an opportune moment, a symmetry or synchronicity of circumstances.

Two flashing lights drift in and out of sync. Both flash at a constant rate but at slightly different speeds, so eventually they catch up with each other for one flash in unison. They are a kind of jerky dialogue across the space: a lopsided syncopation, a looping continuum which waxes and wanes over time.
