2023
Shown in Dear all, a group exhibition organised by artist collective Hope at Kingsgate Project Space, London in March 2023. Artists: Anna Howard, Ellen Macdonald, Kristian Volsing, Bryony Dawson, springseason and Steven Claydon.
For this group show, each artist was invited to show a suitcase filled with something representing the peripheries of their practice. I filled mine with clothes, perfume, keys and books borrowed from a number of friends. Some friends had given permission for their things to remain in the gallery for the length of the exhibition; others, however, were unaware of my ‘borrowing’.
Exhibition text by members of Hope:
‘Rather than an exhibition of artworks by artists, ‘Dear all’ is a group show that gathers peripheral or non-public studio, workplace and research-based material from a range of disciplines and roles. ‘Dear all’, perhaps the first moment of grouping a group or of speaking publicly, titles a show of the work we do to be able to do the work we do’.
